April is National County Government Month (NCGM), an annual celebration of the hard work and dedication of county governments across the nation, while educating the public on the variety of services they deliver to their communities. Since 1991, the National Association of Counties (NACo) has sponsored the event. This year’s theme is “ForwardTogether,” centered around three main pillars: connect, inspire, and lead.
County governments serve as the backbone of local governance, providing essential resources and infrastructure that directly impact the daily lives of citizens. They connect with, inspire, and lead their communities through public safety, transportation, emergency response efforts, community development, planning and zoning, public works, and many other services and programs.
