2024 International Road Federation Conference

iWorQ Systems is headed to San Juan, Puerto Rico to present at the 12th International Road Federation Caribbean Regional Congress!

From July 30 to August 2, public works and road agencies, contractors, engineers, and researchers will be coming together to attend networking sessions and hear from industry leaders.

iWorQ is excited to partner with the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Public Works to showcase iWorQ and PublicWorks1 services at the IRF Caribbean Congress. A client since 2019, the Virgin Islands uses iWorQ software to manage its road assets and pavements.

Recovering From the Hurricanes of 2017

In 2017, Hurricanes Irma and Maria tore through the Caribbean and struck the U.S. Virgin Islands. At the time, the USVI Department of Public Works was using paper to manage and organize their work orders. During the disaster recovery process, they were required to provide evidence of an active maintenance program to secure funding. Unfortunately, having an exclusively paper-based system worked against them, as they struggled to obtain the proper data they needed.

When Jomo McClean, Highway Program Manager and Rueben Jennings, Assistant Commissioner for the USVI Department of Public Works met the President of iWorQ: Garyn Perrett at a Federal Highway Administration conference in 2018, they were immediately drawn to iWorQ’s user-friendly, cloud-based software and PublicWorks1’s premier pavement assessment services. A year later, they signed a contract with iWorQ and PublicWorks1.

"I think we had one of our consultants do a comparison between different systems, and ultimately we went with iWorQ,” McClean said.

iWorQ’s own Joel Perkins, along with USVI Assistant Commissioner Rueben Jennings, will be speaking on July 30 at 11:15 a.m. EDT. They will highlight the benefits of iWorQ and PublicWorks1 and their positive impact on the U.S. Virgin Islands’ infrastructure initiative.

The USVI uses iWorQ’s Pavement Management, Asset Management, Work Management, and Citizen Engagement applications to streamline their public works processes.

“Having a database of street and equipment assets has been a blessing,” said Jomo McClean, Highway Program Manager for the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Public Works.

PublicWorks1 also collected street-level imagery and conducted a total pavement assessment for the USVI. This allows their public works department to easily view and evaluate road and street asset conditions from any web-based device.

Instead of having to go in the field, we can just go into iWorQ and take a look at the road and the surroundings,” McClean said. “So it’s sped up our review times.”
